Frequently asked questions regarding the purchase of karate kimonos:
Which karate kimono?
The choice of karate kimono depends on the age of the person training and its intended use. Below we answer the most frequently asked questions.
Which karate kimono for children?
A karate kimono for children should be made of soft and light material. The recommended grammage is approximately 200 g/m2. The optimal composition of the material is cotton and polyester - the recommended proportion is approximately 65% cotton and 35% polyester - such proportions ensure training comfort and make the material resistant to tearing.
What size karate kimono should I choose?
Cotton, as a natural material, tends to shrink during washing, so it is worth choosing a size larger than the child's height, e.g. if the child is 120 cm tall, it is recommended to choose a size 130 cm.
What kimono for kumite (fighting) training
Kumite kimonos should be made of soft, lightweight material to ensure freedom of movement during the fight. In the case of professional kimonos, ventilation nets are additionally used on the back to ensure better ventilation.
Which kimono for kata training?
A kimono for kata training should have a heavier weight (approximately 350 g.m2) and be made of stiffer material, which will make "noise" when performing forms.
