How to improve reflexes and defensive skills in combat?
Improve reflexes Remember - the blow is sometimes faster than our reaction. Unfortunately, training in technique, strength and speed alone may not be enough if you neglect to hone your reflexes, that is, your ability to react quickly to blows. it is the reflex that often determines the outcome of a fight so in this article we will write some methods to improve it.

Relax When your attention is focused on other things than the fight your reaction will be late, before the fight stop thinking about all other things - focus your attention on the here and now. Also, don't think about the possibility of receiving a strong blow, adrenaline will make you feel no pain during the fight, so clear your mind by allowing yourself to react quickly.

Relax your muscles Tensed muscles act as a brake on our movements, especially on blows. By pinning down we not only delay our reaction but also signal movement because it can be exploited by our opponent. Passing blows at full relaxation is best trained on instruments such aspunching bag, pears or reflex balls. At a later stage, it is worth enriching the training also with shadow fighting and loose sparring which are the closest to the real fight.

Develop a tight guard Tight guard is the basis for effective defense, to refine the correct hand positioning and silhouette start by training in front of the mirror, arrange your hands to best protect your head but at the same time keeping your hands in such a position that allows you to quickly deliver blows. Begin to slowly deliver the blows while making sure the other hand protects the head. Remember to return your hands to a defensive position after delivering blows. When training in front of the mirror will no longer be a problem for you, start training with a partner who will try to strike while your task will be only to cover the attacked areas and deal single blows. Remember that such training should be done slowly and the blows should not be too strong. It is also a good idea to use boxing gloves and a helmet during such training.

Advice: one of the best methods of reflex training on its own is training with the use of reflex balls, which will not only teach you accuracy, speed, sense of distance but also greatly improve your reaction to incoming hits.
