Comparison of DBX Bushido boxing pearls models | Fighter's back-up series

This post will be about boxing pears - you will learn about the benefits fighters derive from using them in training, how to properly select a boxing pear so that it best meets your expectations and allows you to train effectively, and you will also learn about the most interesting models of boxing pears, available in the DBX Bushido store's product range.

Advantages of training with boxing pears

Training pears are a very practical alternative to large punching bags, especially when you are training in a small room, where it is simply not possible to hang a bag with a height of almost two meters. The boxing pear has compact dimensions, so you can hang it even in a small apartment and easily store it in a closet or under the bed.

Boxing pear as a supplement to training with a bag

However, the training pear is not only an alternative to the bag, but also a complement to the boxing training for which you use the bag. The pear is characterized by a different shape, and the striking planes are located elsewhere and at different angles, so the boxing pears are better suited for training selected specialized techniques, m.in. hook punches and techniques used in combat sports other than fistfighting, i.e., elbow or knee strikes.

So whether you can't hang a bag in your apartment or training room, or you want to add variety to your training, the boxing pearl is sure to be an effective solution.

Types of DBX Bushido pears - learn about their features and use in training

We will introduce you to four types of DBX Bushido training pears. They will differ from each other primarily in size and weight, and this will directly affect the possibility of their use in fighter training.

Technical pear SK5

The SK5 technical pear is the smallest model among the pears available from DBX Bushido. Its weight is about 5 kg and its circumference is about 92 cm. Due to its small size, it is designed primarily for technical training. Exercises with this pear help develop:

  • accuracy of strokes,
  • a sense of distance from the opponent,
  • motor coordination.

You can also use the SK5 technical pear as an an alternative to seal bags in evasion training. However, it is indispensable primarily for those players who want to develop their technical fighting skills.

Boxing pearl ARP-508

It is a training pear with height of about 60 cm and circumference of about 130 cm, while its mass depends on the type of material it is filled with. You can purchase the ARP-508 boxing pear empty and fill it with any filler you like. If these are material cuttings, its weight will be in the region of several kilograms. If you decide to buy a pear filled with rubber pellets, then its weight is in the range of 25-30 kg. That's why you can use this model not only for technical training, but also for developing hitting power.

What features does the ARP-508 boxing pearl have??

At the bottom, the pear has an additional attachment with which you can improve its stability using an expander and anchor. This feature comes in handy when training punching power - the pear attached from the bottom with an expander to the anchor will imitate a large punching bag. In technical training, the attachment is not needed, because then it is the greater mobility of the pear that we care about.

Slightly smaller circumference of the pear at its top helps practice elbow strikes. While its lower, wider part is suitable for training sickle and chin punches, knee kicks and a whole range of boxing and kickboxing techniques.

ARP-512 training pearl

It is similar to the ARP-508 pear, but is characterized by the fact that it is slightly taller and slightly more contoured - the the height is about 70 cm, while the circumference at the widest point is about 130 cm. Its weight also depends on the type of filler. Boxing pear ARP-512 filled with material cuttings will weigh about several kilograms, while filling with rubber granules will guarantee a weight of about 25-30 kg. Thus, it is a large pear that you can use in both technical and strength training.

Like the ARP-508 pearl, this model also has a bottom mount that expands the functionality of the pearl to include impact training.
